Car Refinish
In car refinish applications, mineral fillers play a range of roles:
- For good sanding of primers and/or topcoats, soft fillers like talc can be very useful.
- Despite the higher hardness in comparison to talc, baryte- and/or ATH-containing products are still relatively easy to sand.
- Hard minerals provide abrasion and scratch resistance, such as cristobalite, feldspar, nepheline syenite and quartz.
- Due to the inert nature of these fillers, they all show excellent chemical resistance. In the case of talc, its lamellar shape also makes it resistant.
